I chose to be a chemist, so for me it’s chemistry. But I really really like to read about other people’s findings when it comes to plant and animal life (I am loving Blue Planet II at the moment) and about space too.
I actually like all the sciences and think that some of the most interesting things you can work on in science are at the boundaries between them. Perhaps the most interesting thing you can do is find a question which interests you and see what science (and other subjects) can help shed light on that question.
If you’d asked my a year ago, I would definitely have said physics, no question. This year I’ve been working at the Queen’s Medical Research Institute, though, so I’ve got to listen to a lot more people talking about what they do in chemistry and biology and medicine, and I’ve realised that some of the coolest stuff that people do actually involves a little bit of each, so now I don’t think I could choose just one. I like scientific thinking, I reckon.
my favorite is biology. In particular i like immunology. I’m interested in knowing how the human body protects itself against viruses and bacteria. By understanding this mechanism new treatments can be found for certain diseases.
