• Question: can you make other chemicals explode?

      But actually, yes. I’ve made as many different things as I can think of explode at one point or another, from big impressive ones like thermit to calm-enough-to-have-it-in-your-hands methane bubbles to glycerol and potassium manganate (VII). I’ve even more-or-less made a jelly baby explode, which was pretty cool until we had to evacuate the classroom.

      I’m still not as good with explosions as my chemistry lecturer at uni, though: he once made a sealed vial of water explode.
