• Question: do you feel as if university was a required part of your education, it seems you felt isolated?

      Was this based on my answer in the live chat? I think I talked about how the Open University was strange because you don’t get to meet the other students. That’s true, but you do get to talk to them online, and the Open University is a bit of a special case: most universities have a campus where you work alongside all of the other students so that you never have to feel isolated. And remember, I was doing other things while I was a student at the OU, so I had plenty of friends to keep me company. But yes, for what I do University was necessary, because it’s where I learned all about light and lasers and glass and stuff.
