Loads and loads and loads. Have you ever looked at cells under a microscope? can you remember how wide the sample on the microscope slide was, and how many cells it had in it? You might think that you’ve got an idea now of how many cells there must be in your big toe, but remember that they’re stacked 3D, so there’s actually the number you thought there were cubed, and also a lot of the cells that you have in your toe are actually smaller than the ones you’ve probably looked at under a microscope, so even more than that. Just to give you another sense of it, just looking at your blood, and just looking at your red blood cells and not the white blood cells or platelets or any of the rest, just the red blood cells, your body makes about 2.4 million of those cells a second.
      .
      A second.
