People are always a bit surprised when they meet you for the first time and ask what you do. You spend a lot of time doing things that don’t feel that interesting while you’re doing them, but then you stop for a second and realise that they’re actually fantastically interesting. Sometimes you get to feel very clever. Often you get to feel like a big idiot for not spotting what was wrong. You drink a lot of tea.

OK, that last one might just be me.

I enjoy it. I think it’s interesting to understand how things work and how they could be made better. I’m also a bit shy so I like that I can help the people who face the public, but I don’t have to take that responsibility myself!

Life is good. there are some days when experiments don’t work but with the right motivation you get over it. I try and have a good work life balance so when i’m not working I’m doing something that i enjoy just as much.
