      Allergies are caused by your immune system overreacting to something that is safe. it recognizes it as harmful and creates a response to remove it.

      As Sajid said, It’s basically by mistake: your body has a big list of things that shouldn’t be in it because they’re bad for it, and it’s such a big list that sometimes things get added on by mistake. A much more extreme version of that is an autoimmune disease, like rheumatoid arthritis, or lupus. Selena Gomez has lupus, which is why she had to have a kidney transplant from her friend: her body’s list of things that shouldn’t be in it basically included her own kidneys.
